Unlock your natural creativity whilst staying in a forest cabin immersed in nature with a river running through it. Enjoy home-cooked delicious meals and sea dips. Beth Marsden - one of our favourite welsh painters - will lead an art workshop throughout the weekend to guide your attention towards expression and experimentation.
Beth is a playful, encouraging and sensitive teacher with 25 years experience and this course is for both practicing artists and those new to art-making, so all are welcome. Beth’s class is specifically designed to explore your own potential and experiment with mixed media to loosen up inhibitions or break old habits and find your own style of expression.
STRUCTURE
Beth says: “For indoor work we will use soft pencil, charcoal, rubbers and coloured drawing materials to make energetic and dynamic responses to music. This will be a very fluid workshop where we may end up moving around the room and participating in each other’s work. The idea is to eliminate any sense of doubt about skills or abilities. This workshop will be a shared experience and a channel to produce work that will shake up what you think you can do.
For outdoor work there will also be an opportunity to make night drawings, where we respond to our environment without the benefit of being able to see! The natural barriers to sight, the most important element in painting, will help us let go of the responsibilities and conflicts that plague our work. I’m really excited about this course”.
OUTCOME
You will work prolifically during Beth’s sessions and come away with a body of work that will hopefully have some hidden gems included. More importantly Beth hopes you will feel revitalised, encouraged and enthused to explore in your own time, the joys of mark making.
FELINGANOL is a woodland studio near Mwnt beach, west Wales with plenty of space to dream, make fires or wander off along the coastal paths, meadows and forest. All workshops are optional so you'll be free to take time for yourself. With any luck we will all end up with some exciting, dynamic and surprising work and we'll have great fun in the process.
