To recover from spinal crisis we need many things. Firstly, regulating our nervous system and remembering how to relax on a deep level. This may involve making desicions to change your life in small ways to prioritise your well-being. That's not easy but being in a group can fele supportive when changing.
We also need to keep moving. This is crucial. To find ways to move available to you when you've experience panic and new limitations is tough but essential. This class aims to be a supportive group for anyone recovering from or learning to live with spinal pain or discomfort. Spinal issues are often invisible to others so having a space to explore what works for you within a supportive group helps.
I’ve been reflecting on my own practice as a yoga facilitator and therapist since a suffered a hernitaed disc and then learning wear and tear in my lumber spine may have impacted that. I will live with this now so I've been learning from experts whilts reviewing my own learning, practice and experience. 'How can I support myself?', I ask myself. What shall I change to move forward constructively and with self-compassion and nourishment at heart?
We can’t change the world’s problem nor can we stop aging/injury but we can move and build new connections within ourselves. This is not a quick-fix, solve-all invite. I don't consider myself a specialist or anything like that. This comes from my belief that if we learn how to move in the way right for us in this moment, we can heal significantly and resiliently navigate our lives into and beyond old age and injury.
