Stay in a forest cabin near the coastal oath, dream with river running past, enjoy delicious meals and unlock your natural creativity through art-making workshops. Beth Furlong - one of our favourite welsh painters - will lead you on several mark-making workshops guiding your attention towards expression and experimentation, and away from perfectionism and the pressure of producing “good” work.
Beth is a playful, encouraging and sensitive teacher and this w/e is for everyone - both established artists and those new to art-making. Beth is interested in you finding your natural expression and the images that come from freeing yourself up - so all are welcome.
STRUCTURE
For indoor work we will use soft pencil, charcoal, rubbers and coloured drawing materials to make energetic and dynamic responses to music. This will be a very fluid workshop where we may end up moving around the room and participating in each other’s work. The idea is to eliminate any sense of doubt about skills or abilities. This workshop will be a shared experience and a channel to produce your own expression through marks in whatever shape that takes.
For outdoor work there will also be an opportunity to make night drawings, where we respond to our environment without the benefit of being able to see! Again, the focus will be on where the marks take you with no expectation of the outcome.
FELINGANOL is a woodland studio near Mwnt, West wales with plenty of space to dream, make fires or wander off along the coastal paths on intot he meadows and forest. All workshops are optional so you'll be free to take time out for yourself to relax or be quiet as an when you feel to. With any luck we will all end up with some exciting, dynamic and surprising work and we'll have great fun in the process.
